Saarbrücken · Hospitality Architecture
Casita del Onda
A retreat that blends hotel and wellness into a place for mindfulness and conscious rest, wrapped in a warm, earthy Mediterranean material palette.
Interior Architecture & Design

Philosophy
I design spaces that balance concept, material and atmosphere, each one shaped by its own context, history and purpose.
Approach
Developing spatial concepts based on user needs and atmosphere.
Creating precise floor plans, sections and construction drawings.
Selecting materials with attention to sustainability, tactility and aesthetics.
Building detailed digital models to explore space and proportion.
Producing polished, photorealistic renderings to communicate design intent.
Selected Projects
Concept Design
Saarbrücken · Hospitality Architecture
A retreat that blends hotel and wellness into a place for mindfulness and conscious rest, wrapped in a warm, earthy Mediterranean material palette.
Tokyo · High-Rise Architecture
On the 20th floor above Tokyo, Ni-Jū gathers traditional Japanese elements into open culture rooms where work, leisure and community meet.
Milan · Exhibition Architecture
In Dentro takes shape as an exhibition space for photography, a place that stages the works in the changing light from outside and leads visitors through the sequence of rooms.
Konzept & Kontext
Stadtbezug

Technical
Furniture Design
Filigree steel rods and a curved inner plate create an optical illusion that shifts with the viewing angle, a chair that plays with perception itself.
Perception shifts its function through a single inserted element: without the foam cushion, the object serves as a seat; with it, the same surface becomes a table. One gesture is enough to move between the two states.
Material is treated as inherently variable: the inlaid panel can be exchanged in colour and finish, while the polished steel rods pick up and reflect its tone. The materials read each other rather than simply sitting side by side.
Perception deliberately does without a continuous seating surface: the rods alone carry weight, their tips implying a plane rather than forming one. From certain angles the object barely reads as a chair at all, until use reveals its function.
A functional centre with changeable uses.
A dynamic, flowing silhouette that changes its appearance depending on the viewing angle.
A functional link and design highlight.
Experimental Design
Lighting Design
Warm light shines through the gaps between hand-shaped clay elements, casting soft, organic patterns that form an almost aura-like presence around the lamp.
Interior & Material Design
A fragrance room for AOIRO uniting natural materials and hand-crafted clay tiles in a calm, considered atmosphere.
In Every Project
Every design carries the story of its place forward.
Natural materials and colors as a means of expression.
Existing structures as a starting point, not a limitation.
Thinking resourcefully, from concept to detail.
About Me
Every space carries a story. I like listening to it first.
Charleen Theisen, B.A. Interior Architecture at Hochschule Trier, since 2023. I'm drawn to buildings with a past, and to shaping them further through material, atmosphere and identity.
When I'm not in the studio, I'm with my family, traveling, or on a yoga mat.
